How to read the ADAC crash score
    • Lower is better. ADAC grades from 0.5 to 5.5, like a school grade.
    1. 0.5–1.5 Very good
    2. 1.6–2.5 Good
    3. 2.6–3.5 Satisfactory
    4. 3.6–4.5 Sufficient
    5. 4.6–5.5 Poor
    • 1.7 and 2.2 are both "good". Both seats did well. The lower score means the seat did a little better in ADAC's measurements, so it comes first in our order.
    • What it measures: how well the seat protects in a front crash and a side crash, plus how it's built and how the belt sits. Since 2025 the crashes are run at speeds like Euro NCAP's car tests: 50 km/h from the front, 60 km/h from the side.
    • Check the year. ADAC made its tests stricter in 2025 and says results aren't directly comparable with earlier years. That's why we show the year and grey out older results.

Sizes, weights and prices come from makers, testers and shops. Narrow is up to 44 cm wide, standard up to 48 cm, wide over 48 cm: our own bands. ADAC grades run from 0.5 (very good) to 5.5 (poor). "Our pick" is the first seat in each group, when it's Top tested. Some shop links earn us a commission; it never changes our order.

Check how they sit in their seat now

How they sit matters more than height on paper. Set the headrest and straps as the manual says, then answer these.

Which seat are they in now?

If your seat's manual says otherwise, follow the manual.
